Because it's reductive and oversimplified. Most of the article is just talking about how they want to punish poor, pregnant women and how the law is purely punitive without exploring the actual intent of the law, what it actually says, or what the AG has said about it.

In the referenced article, the dude INVITED vegans/vegetarians over for dinner, fucked up a risotto dish when he 'forgot' and used chicken broth, and then decided to write an article about how they just need to get over it and learn to taste things better or something.

I knew this would crop up on Jezebel, and why why whyyy didn't you include more information? Al-Jazeera has a more detailed analysis, including what the bill ISN'T. Quotes from Twitter already indicate misinformation that the proposed bill is for ALL pregnant women — and it's not. The AG himself says the aim is not to

Throw in some amateur BDSM and baby, you've got the fourth 50 Shades book nobody asked for.

Or hey how about 50 Shades of Red? 50 Shades of Moscato? 50 Shades of Not-much-better-than-Franzia-which-is-actually-an-insult-to-Franzia-because-holy-shit-I-love-that-stuff-and-I'm-not-even-a-little-ashamed

50 Shades of Grey Wine: You'll gasp when you taste it

"Meant to" is not referring to efficacy or health. Thank you for reading.

I should also add that these studies don't prove that humans were "meant to" shit while squatting. They may show that it's more efficacious or better for those with certain health afflictions, but meant to? Good luck finding that.

Couple of things here.

"Meant to" and efficacy are two different things. "Meant to" implies a biological imperative that gets naturalist-y at best, or that somehow God has designed humans to shit exclusively in fields at worst. Argue efficacy all you'd like, but saying that humans were "meant to" do anything is in another league entirely.

I feel like sanitation would have become an issue even without colonization coming in and ruining everything. It seems like the inevitable result of population growth, which would push us all together at some point anyway, especially when you have places of greater resource availability that many people will want

That's pretty fucking rich coming from someone who is trying to tell me I was meant to shit in a field, don't you think? Yes, it must be science that has led you to stating that we as an entire species were meant to live without modern sewage systems and apparently never evolve past a basic agrarian society. Maybe you

Can you point me to these studies? Cause a cursory search pulls up this article that states that the studies that are out there are unreliable or preliminary and that it hasn't actually been proven in a clinical trial. The doctor goes on to state that most people don't suffer issues otherwise to absolutely need to

This is a reasonable and nuanced response. I can respect that.

Nooo, staahhhp. Humans aren't "meant" to do anything. This kind of naturalistic stuff is almost always bullshit.

Meanwhile, the extended silence on Elizabeth Taylor playing Cleopatra continues...

Given that we have a significantly larger country with a vastly different societal landscape, view on religion, and fundamental attitudes on the role of the government, I don't really think it's an entirely fair comparison. Beside that — and I could be wrong about this — I don't think any of the 'protests' here really

I don't think you're wrong to be skeptical. I think making these kinds of pronouncements is a good step (y'know, compared to flagrantly condemning them ad nauseum) and it would be short-sighted to downplay the King of Catholics (so to speak) giving them a voice, but that's all it is, is a step. I'll be more convinced

Stay pressed, sweetheart. Apparently you really are as stupid as I was trying not to believe.
