I think the Bingo cards were marked just to try to pass it off as a real Bingo game. There were only slots in one row each, because the filmmakers wanted to make it more clear to the audience that it was all a facade.

I think they were just uniquely identified (they all had different bingo locations, or marker colors). I don’t think there was any larger meaning besides ‘this is a slave auction’.

I enjoyed the smaller, funnier details. Like all of the white people sports that were displayed throughout this movie. Badminton, in the basement there was a dart board, ping pong table, foosball table.

In an earlier scene, he bends his head all the way down to his wrist and tries to chew the restraints off. The whole point of that was just to demonstrate that he could in fact reach his ears with his fingers.

The top comment on the reddit discussion thread for the movie noted that Chris escaped the basement by literally picking cotton. If that’s intentional, and I’m inclined to believe it is...brilliant.

Marine here again. I can’t stand how conflated “the flag” has become with “the military.” I also can’t stand the knee-jerk “patriots” whose default position toward the military is genuflection, and anyone who fails to bend the knee is shunned. These are not the hallmarks of a free society.

Non-American here, not really getting all this noise, I was under the impression that the purpose of your military was to protect the interests of the country abroad and (when required) defend the country and constitution from attack.
