@who_the: The USA is not the center of the world. The USA-model 2011 Chevy Cruze is the same car that GM/Holden/Daewoo has been selling across the globe since late 2008.
This is a cheap Rip-off of Captain Ludwig!!
@ThelynXAZ: In case you missed it, my point was that all of the cars you quote as "I know it's a piece of shit even not having driven one" are all cars that have been on the market for a while, so opinions from actual owners' driving and maintenance experience have percolated throughout the car culture. Same goes for…
@TechnoDestructo: Yeah, it had lots of competition - and the new-for-'96 third-gen Chrysler minivan platform absolutely dominated the (very crowded) marketplace.
@accipiter: Yeah, I think I missed all of the pro-Prius/pro-electric car/pro-CARB articles, too.
@TechnoDestructo: Well, if you'll recall back to '96, the new-generation Caravan was the first *big* refresh to the Chysler minivans - which STILL didn't have a real competitor in the marketplace. It was a pretty revolutionary update to a revolutionary vehicle (for the time).
@ThelynXAZ: Sebring: also 15 years old. Chevy Cruze: been out in the USA for 3 years or so now, on a 7-year-old platform.
@Totoros Porsche: Let's be honest here: Limbaugh may be a bit bombastic and brash, and you and I may not agree with his politics (at all), but he doesn't scare me. I dislike him a lot, but Palin and Beck genuinely scare the #&$(&@#$ out of me.
@Buzzboy7: Wait - Jalopnik, champion of liberal politics?
@Vortex98: *GASP* you have an opinion on a car that was released more than 15 years ago? SHOCKING.
The lack of professionalism of this reporter annoy me. Picture is confusing, and so is the article. First of, Pixar wants, not Disney (animation), they are different, second you are missing what Disney is really doing, which I consider is also a worthy article, no more Princess tales after Tangled, at least not in a…
I hold Steve as a cultural icon, but I have to give Kudos for the mod. Great pic.
@TheSandyClam: Well, if you want something the size of a Ranger... buy a Ranger? A classic *compact* pickup like an old Datusn 520 isn't going to get you anywhere a standard sedan won't, and a dinky single-cab pickup sounds pretty tight for going camping in the desert with your buddies.
@RaptorConner: I like the Ranger, it's a great size for a medium-to-light-duty work truck. That said, it's not a "compact pickup" anymore. The pre-'93 models, might qualify, but the latest, post-'98 ones are getting jacked up higher and higher, and are nearly the size of late-80's F-series pickups.
So airlines are throwing in a complimentary junk-touching for FREE with airline tickets? Damn, that costs $50 down by the docks; I'd expect the airlines to be ripping me off, not giving me a deal.
If someone offered a single-cab pickup with a small, efficient 4-cylinder engine, a low-to-the-ground bed, and at least a 4'x6' bed... for 75% (or less) of the cost of a Ford Transit Connect? They would sell like hotcakes.
@TheSandyClam: Why does a compact pickup need ANY offroad capability? 90% of them will never leave an urban area.
@djdare: In the back of my mind I know that I'm probably just setting myself up for disappointment, but I haven't yet gotten jaded and cynical to the point of entirely losing faith in the government.
@EthanAllison: Agreed. Standard "MPG" nomenclature does not translate to electric vehicles.
