It’s extremely clear what he wanted to achieve with the election, and no, I don’t support it, nor think it is right, and the suppression and violence to achieve those ends sickens me.

I can see that. It’s a common enough scenario that usually draws little enough effective international attention.
Assuming Trump had the power to call said elections, yeah, they should participate in it, because if they don’t, then Trump wins a legitimate election. Yes it’s a naked power grab, but unless there is already a law prohibiting said power grab, there’s no reason there can’t be a vote on it.
Was calling the election legal? I mean, it’s clearly a power grab, but if Maduro was in his power to call it, then they silenced themselves. I’m under no illusion that more chicanery wouldn’t have happened if they decided to vote, but they ceded the argument that they were disenfranchised by doing so.
Was it illegal for Maduro to call the election? I mean, there’s definitely some shittiness going on, or the situation wouldn’t have devolved to what it is, but refusing to participate in an election then trying to rally your opposition to the results based on the election being undemocratic is inconsistent.
The measure, which critics claim Maduro called in an effort to consolidate his power, would allow the government to rewrite Venezuela’s constitution and institute a new constituent assembly that favors the president. Opposition leaders have boycotted the vote.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think Priebus had any either. I think his only qualification was being the RNC chair, which I suppose gives his some administrative chops, but doesn’t give him any insight into governing beyond how policy might affect electability.
I wish Politico published the actual quote just to see how tortured the analogy was.
It is ‘transparent’. . .
His proposal is so juvenal.
They might have even expressed *gasp* frustration.
He thinks he’s god
You know, now that I look at it, Texas does kinda look like Trump’s hair if he were facing left.
20 hours of “debate” over three days followed by a vote. The “debate” will be full of procedural maneuvering, obfuscation, and misdirection, not really debate at all. There are several theories out there about what the GOP strategy is, but none of them are good. They range from it really just being an open floor and…
“With the exception of the late, great, Abraham Lincoln,” Trump continued. “I can be more presidential than any president that’s ever held this office. It’s that easy.”
For the most part, yeah this article is a bit overblown. I’m sure a good chunk were legitimately happy to see McCain and genuinely wanted to show support, but even without that, part of their job is to be seen caring. We all do it, saying “I’m sorry” when someone you barely know loses a loved one, or clapping during…
What Trump and the Freedom caucus shitheads have been proposing. Repeal the ACA to “force Dems to the table” (holding America hostage and then blaming others for not trying to “save” the hostage ). They get the defense of claiming they voted for freedom of choice while conveniently glossing over what the consequences…
