It’s tinfoily of me, but it kind of fits my pet theory, and thus my chagrin that legislative R’s seem to be getting a pass, that Republicans in the legislature knew there was going to be something pretty big coming down the pipe for Trump and have been delaying it so they could get Gorsuch through.

In an interview Tuesday, Page said that he had “nothing to hide” and spouted off some nonsense about how the surveillance is “unjustified” and “politically motivated.” In an especially galling move, he reportedly compared his situation to the time the FBI and the Justice Department eavesdropped on Martin Luther

This. I don’t know nearly enough about foreign policy experts, or what is typical of presidential campaigns in their hiring of foreign policy experts, but the sense I got was that when Trump announced his name everyone was like “Who the fuck is that guy?”

Things seem to mysteriously be falling into place with the investigation now that Gorsuch has been confirmed. . . It’s probably just me grasping for hope, but given their justification for Garland it would have been hard to get a SCOTUS confirmed without the elected POTUS in office. It was a little odd they had to

Yeah, that’s been the biggest thing easing my mind is their miniaturization (that the US public is aware of) hasn’t reach the the point of getting a usable payload up much less protected enough to survive reentry. I’d say they were were still pretty far out, but the solid fuel launch earlier this year was a pretty big

I was thinking the same way until I ran across the image by chance earlier when replying to someone with the “no worries, it’s North Korea, har har har” mindset and facepalmed.

Why not both?

He also had this little chestnut:

They’re not as inept as you are likely thinking. They have put two satellites in space not too long ago. Granted a satellite =/= and ICBM, but it is seems to be becoming a pretty common assertion that they will have the capability of hitting the US mainland within a decade, with most indicating significantly less.

+1 cringe

I get the sneaking suspicion Melissa McCarthy will be doing the cold open for SNL this week

Midterm elections are bad enough, but special elections and off year elections have abysmal turnout. The smallest motivating factor can lead victories that buck regional trends as getting people to show up, or not show up, is the biggest battle.

Kansas is tomorrow, as in 45 minutes from now CMT which is also the timezone in the majority of Kansas. To any Kansans (Kansasins? Kansanites?) vote. And call up your family and friends and tell them to vote too. . . and follow up and make sure they vote. . . and follow up again, cause you know they still haven’t .

It also skews numbers so in a few years when studies are done on violent crime rates by undocumented’s the proportion will rise to be more consistent or even greater than natural citizens making their rhetoric self fulfilling.

I’m still pissed that the Illinois Supreme Court blocked the Independent Map Amendment from getting on the ballot.

I think the cold open was pretty illustrative of that.

The arrowhead story from The New Yorker pretty much sums it up. You don’t need to be overly clever to run a scam, you just need to find the right marks. It worked because they were selling to other children. It (probably) wouldn’t work if tried on an adult, and definitely wouldn’t work on someone with any basic

I was bothered by the fact that he could be so ignorant. And that there are people out there who could say such a blanketed thing and just be so downright stupid, and just not use the brain that they have.

May she forever be known as someone too incompetent to work for the Trump Administration.
