I like a fun, sporty vehicle myself, but people that buy absolutely stupid shit like this should have to pay much higher registration, taxes and licensing fees every year. Obviously insane gas prices don’t seem to be making a dent.

I know what you meant. All the damn CAFE loopholes is why we traded large, inefficient cars for exponentially larger and more inefficient trucks.

Sure seems like these values could use a tweaking since 1991..... I say this owning several cars that when new had to pay it. Ultimately though i wish we would move to income based dissincentives, otherwise we just let the rich have all the fun, but say if you want a 10 mpg daily driver you need to pay 5% of your AGI…

I think you would have to purchase an F350 sized vehicle to get out of the CAFE limit. The “light truck” category covers vehicles that are up to 8500 lbs, I believe. The CAFE limits penalize the manufacturer.
