That's a good idea. It never occurred to me to try. They are very elusive. I'm planting winter garden this weekend. Maybe I will keep my camera handy.

Just this summer there are suddenly ones in my yard that are completely golden all over. Not even yellow. They look like little fuzzy flying pieces of gold. They are so beautiful. We'd had some that were entirely black but I had never seen these before.

I was confused by that too but I guess they meant extinct in that region, which is an accurate use. In any case, I'm glad to here they are back and thriving!

She puzzles me to no end as well. I gave up trying to understand her motivations long ago but she's the reason I knew immediately the type of person WifeofBath meant.

I know the kind of person you're talking about. I know a woman who won't let her daughter use some of the equipment in a science class because it may have once "been exposed" to play dough. Don't be confused by the name of the school. It's a very highly ranked institution in a progressive enclave. Considering that the people you are referring to often don't even finish K-12, those aren't the people attending.

I really have a hard time wrapping my mind around it. You can wear their awesome outfits. You can learn their awesome dance moves. You can sing their music. Why with the blackface and the hair? Did they think people wouldn't recognize the songs without the blackface? WTF?

This is my all-time favorite book. When I was twelve I read my father's copy, which he got when he was twelve in 1944. I am forty-two now and I have read it every two or three years ever since. It never fails to surprise. I doubt I will ever outgrow it.

I read this as an adult when I bought it for some foster kids I was working with. I ended up buying another copy for myself. I still have it. I love it.

Oh! Mouse House was an important book from my childhood. My copy is now on my children's bookshelves. I've never seen anyone else mention her. I had no idea she was so prolific.
