I forgot about the Cole Porter reference in that song. What a juxtaposition.

Me too. Well, now I've had a BSO so I only get them when I request them. But if you read the quotes from the researchers, they were referring to postmenopausal women. It doesn't seem like the MSNBC article highlighted that aspect. I'm going to have to ask my onc for the original study.
Thank you. Again, I understand how it works. What I was missing from the report was that they were talking about postmenopausal women. That makes more sense. It's already common to test CA-125 every six months for at-risk women. It's known for not being especially reliable because the levels fluctuate wildly,…
I have chosen to do it, yes. Even though before I knew my BRCA status and thought I would be able to go through menopause naturally, I swore I would never do HRT. But the other medical risks are too daunting to me.
Yes, these are the takeaways from that piece:
I understand what they are. I am BRCA+ and have been having both of these tests done for years.
Oh, I see what you're saying. My bad.
That being said, surgical menopause has not been nearly as horrible as I feared before I did the surgery. I don't want to unnecessarily frighten anyone who might be where I was five years ago. :)
There's a whole lot more to it than that. Removal of ovaries, especially when you're young, not only puts you in immediate menopause but puts you at increased risk of extreme bone loss, heart problems and also, later in life, dementia. Fun times.
This isn't a new test at all. CA-125s and transvaginal ultrasounds are already the routine tests for those of us at high risk for OC. There must be some other element to this study that shows this test to be more reliable or something. Also, a transvaginal ultrasound often can't detect OC in the early stages.
America is a continent, not a country. In fact, there are two American continents. Some people from Latin America refer to themselves as American and take issue with people from the US assuming it only means them. That being said, I know plenty of Black people who are not from the US who get so (rightfully) sick of…
Is that what she was doing? I thought she was scraping old gum wads from under her coffee table. I guess it should have been obvious, wedging myself between pieces of furniture is always my go-to spot for self-love.
I don't get it at all. Some dude works too much and is really bored. Or something. His girlfriend, who doesn't seem to have to work, is mad at him for not being around. Or something. He works so much because he's bored with his girlfriend and so is looking at pictures of his ex, who looks just like his girlfriend, or…
Wishing you multitudes of luck!
So damn dapper!
I'm obviously sleep-deprived because I read that headline as More and More Women Giving Birth to Giant Panda Babies.
She's trying to achieve her rent or tuition or child care costs.
Holy. Crap.
