That being said, surgical menopause has not been nearly as horrible as I feared before I did the surgery. I don't want to unnecessarily frighten anyone who might be where I was five years ago. :)

There's a whole lot more to it than that. Removal of ovaries, especially when you're young, not only puts you in immediate menopause but puts you at increased risk of extreme bone loss, heart problems and also, later in life, dementia. Fun times.

This isn't a new test at all. CA-125s and transvaginal ultrasounds are already the routine tests for those of us at high risk for OC. There must be some other element to this study that shows this test to be more reliable or something. Also, a transvaginal ultrasound often can't detect OC in the early stages.
