As much as racism is rampant in Hollywood, Michael Jackson himselfs picks up the cheque for this one. He literally turned himself white, why would you expect a Black actor to play him in his “white“ phase? This would only be an issue worth complaining about if a white actor played him in his Black phase. Quit with the

I see your point but I have to second what RobGronks Party Bus Driver Said

I don’t know if that’s the best example since this is what Michael looked like 2001.

Realistically, who is supposed to play MJ? It could be any combination of black, white, male, female- and they’d probably do a great job. With all that man’s modifications, it’s down to acting chops. Don’t think Fiennes is actually much lighter than MJ ended up being. It’s not exactly a role for Idris Elba.

This is what Michael looked like from A 2001 TV Guide cover.

God damnit but I want to see Stockard Channing as Elizabeth Taylor!

Conversations often include exchange of similar lines of thought.

Apparently he’s friends with the producer.

I can’t help but feel MJ would be honored by that casting choice.

It’s pretty fucking rich that people are cool with consuming and confronting slavery in the form of entertainment while gasping at the horror of it all, but refuse to budge when it comes to things like criminal justice reform, income inequality, etc., and acknowledging the lingering effects of a country built on the

Unpopular Opinion: I don’t want to read any more books based on The Holocaust. Sarah’s Key, The Lampshade, The Book Thief, Number the Stars, All the Light We Cannot See...

I used it briefly, but always felt it was like being yelled at by passing motorists.

Quit Twitter soon after joining. Social media posts can give us the false idea that we have a global audience that gives a shit. If that’s true, and is in the minority of cases, monetize it.

I maintain that twitter really isn’t important unless you’re very famous (celebrity) or very powerful (politician, company, etc.). The rest of us are just wading around down in the muck.

What do you guys want? Do you want quotas? Do you want rigidly enforced diversity?

think about leaving twitter this way: i’ve never been on it. ever. has my lack of twitter somehow led me to a worse more unfulfilled online experience? no. there are no gains in social media. add up all your likes and retweets and reposts and thumbs up and it’s an empty vapid exercise that’s anything BUT social.

I actually quit Tumblr a few years ago for similar reasons (though obviously Twitter and Tumblr are far from the same thing) and I am much happier for it. That being said, there is a feeling amongst people who work in the journalism business nowadays that heavy, consistent, rabid engagement on Twitter is pretty much a

Holy shit get over yourself.
