I had an AC issue with my E92 M3 as well. I can remember exactly what it was but cost was about the same. Unfortunately, I was not under warranty. I just did rear tires and front breaks, maintenance can get painful.

I will give Doug the benefit of the doubt. He was in the corporate world for a while so I am sure he has gone through his fair share of paper work. Also, if driving off road voided the warranty, it would have been gone long ago when he took it out on a frozen lake.
