Well, the TDI owner I know is having none of it. He was very vocal on social media when the story broke, among the first owners featured in news stories (Bloomberg and NY Times). He wants them to buy back his SportWagen, and he wants nothing to do with VW ever again. I don’t think the cult is quite as strong as Apple.
