Man I love The Decemberists. My wife on the other hand, not so much lol. She is convinced that every single on of their songs is about drowning and...I mean, she isn’t too far off.
I go back and forth on how I feel about most of this band’s catalogue now, but I always have time for “Leslie Anne Levine” and “Here I Dreamt I Was An Architect”, from what I think is their best album, in part because it’s a little more mellow.
This being the season of insufferable holiday music, I recently re-listened to the Shins’ cover of “Wonderful Christmastime.” It does an admirable job of redeeming one of the worst Christmas songs, and they do it by playing it like the Beach Boys, with a jaunty organ in place of McCartney’s tinny synths.

I was just thinking this. Weren’t they just weird folks the Fantastic Four occasionally ran into? Unfortunately FF is with Fox as well. After two failed big screen versions, an FF TV series in the vein of Star Trek (weekly, self-contained adventures) would be great.
