I imagine if I ever saw Olivia Olson perform live I’d just be yelling “Marceline!”

Saw her band opening for Lenny Kravitz and the Black Crowes at Pine Knob (now DTE Energy Music Theater) in Michigan way back in 1999. She really was a female version of Lenny and probably the inspiration for Lisa Bonet’s take on Marie deSalle in High Fidelity, and thus Zoe Kravitz’ version of Rob in the Hulu show. I

If not, may I humbly suggest... John Mulaney?

I think the correct comparison would be “Beach Boys” but yes, this.

For the longest time I was convinced it was an early Simon and Garfunkle folk rock single, not the Beatles. It shares many similarities with what they came up with for Mrs. Robinson and other songs from bookends. Only three years earlier.

They’re not really comparable. The Beatles’ peak period was, well, nearly their entire recorded output, from 1963 to 1969 (bit of a drop off there with the Let It Be leftovers in 1970, but they were effectively broken at that point anyway). The Stones started in ‘64, and had some big hits every year in there, as well

My favorite game used to be “recasting Keanu Reeves Movies” because of this fact. I was convinced that there was a better actor for every movie he was in instead of him, and it was usually Brandon Lee. Or maybe Johnny Depp in Dracula. Or Paul Bettany in Constantine. Or literally any other actor in Much Ado About

I’m assuming she hit him on the head with a cinderblock and caused a closed head injury and that’s why he is the way he is. And she initially felt so guilty she married him. Right?

Three years after buying my first house, after renting for seven years, I’ve yet to be able to afford to build my dream bar in my basement, much less any of the actual crucially necessary repairs that have come in up since moving in. The fence in the back yard is falling down, the gutters and soffits are leaking, the

We did the same thing over the past several years, and we even managed to get through Voyager, but only by watching the ten best episodes of each season (as voted on somewhere on a site that broke away from this one) and I have to say, there’s half of a good show buried in there. You just gotta ignore all the tedious

Here you go. Based on the roles the Beatles themselves wanted to play in a Kubrick-directed version.

I’m sure Colin Meloy of the Decemberists is working on a sequel to “The Mariner’s Revenge Song” as we speak.

No glasses, no bob, no orange sweater! That’s Velma!

I’m starting to think maybe animation would be the best way to get the Silmarillion made, kind of similar to the “History of Westeros” bonus shorts on the GoT BluRays. Some of that stuff is too epic to be properly captured in live action even with todays cgi. A giant, talking wolfhound fighting the father of all werewo

Yeah I can’t imagine how it would have worked without the Crows plotline. For an invented storyline it was very well integrated, possibly better than the main story. But I could have used at least one more episode to draw out the quasi-romance between the heartrender and the witch-hunter, it just went by too quickly.

First season was entertaining, but actually went by a little too fast; for a non-book reader it seemed like they were skipping through some plot developments. I’d say a ten episode season would have been even better.

Regular Human Bartender Show, coming in November...

I have a co-worker who’s in a “celtic band*as literally that chick. She comes up on stage randomly twirling and playing a fiddle and looks like a brunette Chloe Fineman. So I laughed, laughed, laughed.
* A smattering of traditional Irish songs and a bunch of “vaguely celtic” originals about castles and Guinness. No

Ah dang you found me (Jumps on bus... drives away)

Yeah, I get that, since this is almost exactly “Victorian Steampunk X-Men” they had to follow the X-Men tradition and do a glimpse into a far-flung future with a soldier sent back in time to “make things right.” So. Zephyr is Cable, with a bit of Kate Pryde possessing Kitty a la Days of Futures Past. I did feel like
