While I wholeheartedly concur with McLeod on the unfortunate whitewashing of Roberto (not to mention Dr. Reyes, traditionally drawn as a dark-skinned Puerto Rican and portrayed in the movie by a light-skinned Brazilian) the others are decent tradeoffs, especially since Illyana is absolutely spot-on. No one would

The merchandise is already out there. Most of it looks like it’s just to profit the seller, but at least one (full disclosure: he’s a friend and neighbor and takes pictures of my ridiculous halloween costumes) is donating his profits to the ACLU.

Great list, but I would absolutely have to switch out the one from King is Dead for any song from I’ll Be Your Girl, say Everything is Awful. I just can’t stand the country twang, high harmonies and pedal steel on that one. In albums previous, those devices were used sparingly and to good effect, but it’s just too

I always sort of thought it went this way:
John had started writing a song about his childhood, “There are places I’ll remember all my life... Penny Lane is one I’m missing, up Church Road to the clock tower... Past the tram sheds with no trams, on the 5 bus into town...” But Paul said that sounded like just literally

Jack White Boarding House reach, first three songs...

Also Cable is a ripoff of the secretly cybernetic, big gun toting, droid hunter Valance from the original Marvel Star Wars comic.

I really think streaming is large part of it. Beck has always been an immediate buy for me. Even when I switched to mostly iTunes, I still bought physical copies of the cds. But I listened to Colors on Spotify, and was slightly underwhelmed, and decided “eh, I maybe don’t need to own this one.”

Man, I’m trying to watch and support and enjoy this show, but aside from Lorna and Clarice, I truly care about none of these characters. The Strucker kids are the worst incompetent screwups this side of Fear the Walking Dead, and the parents have only been given one facial expression and character beat to play apiece.

Not too thrilled at the horror aspect, but dang if they didn’t nail Magik’s look, and with Magik comes demons, so I supposed this might work. Let’s hope for Amara and Xian and Doug and Warlock in a “John Carpenter’s Thing” - inspired techno-organic alien invasion sequel.

Sadly no greatest Hits Volume 2 yet, but here’s some of my favorites:

And “Honey Pie” from Wildflowers.
And especially “I Should Have Known It” from Mojo just 6 years ago.

Jessica Hernandez and the Deltas - Telephone / Telefono.
Hernandez took her Winehouse-ish big voiced soul / disco / garage punk fusion and made a new record, then translated it in spanish. The lyrics and instrumentation and overall feel differ on each album. Good stuff.

Guero came after Sea Change, and then the Information, but that was less party, more spacey.
