100% dude was drunk. Even if you hit a deer, you’re going to get out of the car to assess the damage to your car and peep the deer out. And if he came back in the morning to check it out, he DEFINITELY knew that it wasn’t a fucking deer or he would have just taken the car to the shop and called it a day.

I’ve heard in a lot of states it’s better to flee when drunk and hitting something because then you can come back the next day and do what this asshole did and not be drunk. Of course results vary based on skin tone.

I’m curious what the case history in SD and ND is when it comes to fatal hit-and-runs. Is it the standard that the manslaughter-er walks away with a couple of misdemeanors for killing a person?
