I don’t think it is just that. FromSoftware games are very well designed and balanced, they’ve likely had this difficulty mode discussion at the studio many times and decided what’s best for their vision is to have one very polished difficulty.

This FF9 was remade with Unity so all square has been doing since the mobile version is using Unity’s compiler to quickly port it to other platforms.
