Why can’t these companies just pay the artist for their work fairly?

Dude, I’m a designer, you don’t have to convince me that it’s in everyone’s best interest for companies to pay people for their artwork. They just know they can get away with it, so they do. It’s immoral and exploitative, but so is paying garment workers so little that they only have to spend a couple bucks to produce…

Paying artists is certainly expensive, but for such a huge retailer, it would quickly pay off. Those shirts probably cost less than five bucks to make and probably sell for $20-30. Pretty much all flat-faced dogs (Boston Terriers, Pugs, French/English Bulldogs, etc) take in lots of extra air when they exercise/eat and that air has to go somewhere. Our dog is lucky that she’s so fucking sweet and adorable because when she farts it smells like a vagrant crawled inside of her to die.

Why do they do this? Why can’t these companies just pay the artist for their work fairly? I can’t imagine the subsequent lawsuits are cheap and probably cost as much as paying her from the get go might. Even more, if it’s not a super popular product to begin with.

Seriously. Use a fucking chihuahua... a yorkie... there are a shit-ton little dogs. Hell, use a mix of small and big dogs. But, yeah, just blatantly taking someone else’s shit and saying, “Meh, fuck you.” And then say their “designers” came up with it? Fuck. Off.

As the proud owner of a Boston Terrier I am outraged that a massive corporation would take advantage of these adorable stinky idiots (and also an independent designer).
