I sometimes wonder if the “faceless” aspect of the sport could be remedied by having teams of fighters go against one another. Each team would have a fighter at each weight, and there would be a schedule with a champion team being declared at the end of the season. That way, people would be able to support a team…
These gymnasts are really impressive in giving their statements. Very clear, straightforward, and emotionally strong while also showing the deep hurt they all feel. As much as I’ve lost respect for the institution, I’ve gained a ton of respect for these women.
You’re absolutely right about that. I played rugby in college with Steve Tasker, who came out for the sport just to keep in shape before trying to get drafted. He played about a half season and was the MVP of the Big Ten Tournament before moving on to bigger things with the NFL.
I looked it up, and I know that’s not what you meant. But, boy, is that a difficult sentence to figure out.
