Autism parent here. You don’t “rehome” any child ever. If you are such a fucked up human being you do something like that, then you should never be allowed to adopt.

Based on the events of the last 24 hours, as well as the past century or so, seems to me like the cops are the terrorists.

It’s a special kind of cop that thinks a knee to the neck is the proper response to a protest about a cop putting his knee to a guys neck.

Give the police an excuse to use force?  The citizens peacefully protested the first night after the murder, and were met with teargas and forcibly dispersed with no goals being accomplished.  They came back and started burning shit down and oh look, the cop got arrested.   I say the rioting worked.  

When I have had these discussions, I remain calm and say “If a non-cop was caught on video doing exactly the same thing, would they have been arrested already? The word you are looking for is ‘hell yes’ - there would be no wait.”

It’s a start. And to be clear, whatever you think about the reasonableness of rioting and looting in response to agents of the state engaging in racist violence, the ask really wasn’t that unreasonable. All that it would have taken to prevent what happened the past few days was to arrest someone who was caught on…

The bigger mystery to me is, who watches these videos? Who follows these people and wants to listen to basic people spewing basic shit for 45 minutes, which could be condensed into 2 minutes but they stretch it out foreeeeever to get more $$$$?

Yeah, these people are gross, but it very well could work out in the child’s favor. Being raised by these parents would probably not be in his best interest.

My friend was given back to the adoption agency after his first set of parents decided he was too sullen as baby. I think good riddance to those people, he ended up with a loving family and was too young to really remember that first family. These people publicly documented his stay with them so it’s out there…

Yeah, this whole pandemic is laying bare the way a certain portion of America—particularly the American right—looks at people. It’s nothing new, it’s just more explicit, more jarring. For decades we’ve put profits ahead of quality of life, now we’re just explicitly putting profits ahead of actual lives.
