But....wait....I thought if they were married it wasn't "sin"? In fact, I'm pretty sure there's a whole fleet of Christian bloggers writing about how, once you're married, you're not supposed to "deny" your spouse because sex once married is God's blessing/awesome/mandatory.

I'm with you on the "fiscal responsibility" hatred. It's so easy for some of these conservative types to declare something as wasteful spending when they can't see beyond their own worldview. The reality is, we live in a very complex and interconnected world. My personal most-hated terms list includes "market

My theory on this situation is that the voters are trying to cobble together a libertarian outcome with Dem/Repub candidates. They want the personal autonomy to smoke pot or make their own reproductive choices, but they want it with "fiscal responsibility" (i.e. trying to avoid the "out of control government

The fashion of the early 00's hasn't aged well, has it? My future hypothetical children are going to have a field day with my yearbooks. Though I miss my cargo pants.

We're never going to be able to have nice things, are we?

The problem is that the definitions I'm finding via google are all vague and generalizations of the different state laws for corporations. So, I'm (unfortunately) pretty sure we haven't seen the last of this as other "closely-held" corporations try to have this ruling apply to them.

So now we get to argue about what exactly qualifies as a "closely held" corporation. Great.

I was hoping I'd see you on this thread! Many congrats on the new little one!!

That's the song I want to use! Did you edit it at all? I worry that it's a bit too long and/or juvenile sounding. But damnit, my dad likes Paul Simon and is not sappy so my options are few.

The sad truth. If Sandy Hook wasn't horrific enough to effectuate change, nothing will. Or, more truthfully, I don't want to even think of the event that will turn the tide.

A grad school acquaintance (let's call him "Justin") had a thing for one of the ladies in my study group (let's call her "Sarah"). During the fall of the last year of grad school, Justin told Sarah (who then told all of us) that he had a brain tumor and was dying. He had spent all of our fall break in a

While I agree that spoilers don't have to ruin a TV show for you, I will say that it can ruin the feelings you experience from surprises and twists in a show's plot line. That excitement doesn't make or break a good show, but it is a valid part of the experience.

Ha. That reminds me of my very first spoiler experience. I was in the third grade and I was slogging through The Yearling during snack time and recess each day (yes, I was a nerdy child). I was about 2/3 of the way through it when one of the recess monitors came up and asked me "Did you get to the part where XXX?"

You know, that's one of the few regrets I have from high school (the other being not telling people to "fuck off" more). My prom dress was very plain, I wish I'd have gone with something more fun and sparkly.

I've also seen Christian/Catholic facebook friends get upset over this. They also whined about how the Church wasn't getting enough credit for it's contributions to science:

The answer -> Freedom Riders for Girl Scouts - done and.....done.

As a man - I think they all look better before the photoshop. Not poetry, but hey - it's true. Flaws = humanity. And humanity is sexy, dammit.
