I remember reading something a while back that Fords had the highest body repair costs, hence the most expensive to insure compared to a similar vehicle. This was before aluminum bodies on common vehicles.

This is an all too often occurrence and probably had nothing to do with what the shop did other than horrible timing. I think you made out pretty well in that scenario.
