There were some Chinese VIN Volvo S60s on display at this years NY International Auto Show (Yes, I’m that weirdo who goes around looking at VINs and build plates) can’t say I’m impressed with the panel gap between the hood, right fender, and nose cone.
This. But if don’t want to buy a new Volvo because you want to support American jobs and manufacturing, that is a different (and much more agreeable) take.
I said this a long time ago, and got roundly brow beat, but Volvo is not a Swedish company. It is Chinese, and is in transition. All manufacturing AND design/engineering will be Chinese within 12-15 years. This is the standard practice for Chinese companies in other industries.
