SMS isn't going anywhere as long as Messages is isolated to Apple users. Sure, it's nice if you have apple/iphone friends, but SMS is the ultimate cross-platform solution.

My biggest problems with Google Music are a) no 5 star ratings and b) If I change something on my library, like a song name typo or anything like that, it gets re-uploaded twice. Work really hard to keep my library in order and GMusic just makes more work for me.

I'm in the same situation. I was doing P90X when I was having class spread out through the week and work in the evenings, so I could workout a lot of times in the early afternoon, or I would do it late at night knowing I wouldn't have to be up bright and early.

I'm interested in the media player they demoed. It had 5 star ratings (like WMP, iTunes) but a styling similar to Zune....Zune's "heart" "yes or not" style ratings killed the program for me. That and the album art was so small.
