Short version: A good scout “must be as swift as a greyhound, as tough as leather, and as hard as Krupp’s steel.”

My wife and I saw “Dark Knight Rises” in iMax and will never go back to iMax again. I’m sure it damaged our hearing. We wondered how our self esteem could be so low that we endured it for a few hours; we should have walked out.

In an insane society, a sane person must appear insane.

It’s legal? Tell it to a judge.

They won’t bribe Heller. If this thing passes, it blows a $1 billion hole in NV’s budget. Sandoval won’t stand for that. Heller’s up for re-election next year, although there’s rumor he might run for NV governor. Regardless, he can’t afford to piss off Sandoval if he wants to keep his political career. Sandoval

“When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less.” “The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.” “The question is,” said Humpty Dumpty, “which is to be master—that’s all.” - Lewis Carroll,  Thro

Interesting analogy.

Since we all sense and hope that, somehow, Trump’s not finishing out his first term, then Pence is going to have to run in 2020. My best hope (though unlikely) is that Trump is convicted of high crimes. That puts Pence in a tough spot:

I don’t go to church; I’m not convinced of God. But . . .

If you remove all the vowels from Reince Priebus, you get:

You might not need a tragedy. Just something that scares the shit out of gun-totin’ Republicans.

I never went to Harvard or Ivy League. But Harvard has a pretty generous grant program and helps a lot of people who otherwise could never go to Harvard be able to do just that. Like any college program (Ivy league or not) that needs to maintain national rankings, accreditation, etc., they still have to be choosy.

I agree that the comparison is limited and needs to be contextualized. I do think that if Hitler or Mussolini are the means by which people can form an understanding of what a fascist is like in general, then it can be helpful to include those figures in the discussion. But that should only be a starting point.

Actually, the Electoral College is the reason Trump won.

Not to worry. It’s alright. Baby’s coming back!

Seriously, the best thing the Democrats could do right now is get on bended knee and beg Pres. Obama to take over the DNC. He’d be utterly perfect.

But wouldn’t it also, then, be legal to refuse service to people of various religions on religious grounds? If my religion is “the one true religion,” and yours is not, can I not, as such, claim you are an infidel or something like that? I could then refuse service to you because it violates my sacred beliefs.

Anymore, I simply don’t answer the phone if I don’t recognize the caller. I figure if it’s someone/something truly important, they’ll leave a message. That’s cut way down on the amount of telemarketing I have to put up with.

Democrats spent more than a year debating their proposal out in the open. Five separate committees, three in the House and two in the Senate, held literally hundreds of hours of hearings and produced testimony from experts representing multiple philosophical views and officials from pretty much every group or industry
