GFR never needed gimmicks. Just a three-man industrial band that blew the roof off of whatever venue they played. As I’m sure you know, they sold out their Shea Stadium show faster than The Beatles did a few years earlier. For a two or three year period, GFR was the biggest band in the world!
If time travel were possible this is one of the shows I would have wanted to be at. The crowd was so frenzied that they wrecked the stadium! How amazing!

Derek’s uncle (his father’s brother) was Allman Brothers Band drummer Butch Trucks, so Derek was raised with music all around. Not a bad way to grow up!
