The A.V. Club

This year I have mostly played old games:

It was really good. Have you played the original Deux Ex, or is that on your backlog too (it was on mine until I played it early this year).

This week I have finished Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

I’ve finished the Missing Link DLC for Deux Ex: Human Revolution

Oh. That’s a shame. It was on my list, basically just on the assumption that it would be probably as good as this one.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

I don’t even get out of bed until about 7.15.

This weekend, I’m going to continue my Learning the violin as it enters the second week!

Oldest thing in my backlog is...

I understand why people love SotC, but you can count me in with the apostates who found it a bit frustrating to actually play.

It reminds me of the original Deus Ex game and all those times I, initially an ideologically committed UNATCO special agent, hacked into ATMs for a quick buck.

I am a very small part of the way through Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I’ve completed the initial manufacturing plant mission (rescuing the hostages, without killing anyone so far) and learned how to buy stuff at a shop and, uh, that’s about it. Oh and I helped a guy not get blackmailed into stealing anti-rejection

InFamous 2 was on my list, then I was thinking of taking it off as I didn’t get a huge amount out of the first one. But if it’s better then I guess it’ll go back on the list again. (According to “HowLongToBeat” - my go-to reference guide before I start any new game - it’s fairly quick to play through, so it has that

Yuuup. I usually eke out no more than about 5 to 7 hours of gaming time a week.

A couple of weeks ago my wife did a replay of Giving Birth, this time going down the “It’s a boy” route as a speed run (finishing up just over 3 hours from the “I think that was a contraction” prologue) on hardcore mode.

This is the Flash Gordon of tone. Absolute absurdity and awkwardness played straight at every opportunity.”

After finishing MGS2, I continuing with the games backlog by playing Infamous. As a 3rd person open worlder, it reminds me a lot of GTA4, just with parkour and superpowers but without cars or a cool soundtrack. Or prostitutes. And in place of characterisation and a sense of humour, it has a morality system that would

It’s not worth 100%ing that one. It’s like trying to kill all the pigeons in Liberty City. Just stick some boxes in the attic and forget about them.

What format are you playing Baldur’s gate on? And what sort of character did you roll?
