I think Shadow of the Colossus would be a good choice. It sold well in Japan but certainly wasn’t an AAA title over here, that I remember. My only reservation is whether the recent remaster puts it over the mainstream edge.

Finished up Resistance 2. Thought it got better towards the end, and I liked a few of the narrative choices (especially its abrupt, “what the fuck just happened there”, downer ending).
Oh god, you’ve just added a whole bunch of games to my list. I hope none of them take as long as Deus Ex.
Just looked that up. ‘kin ‘ell.
There were some gnomes and at some point fairly early on a talking tree.
*sniffs, pushes up glasses*
The very worst for this (in my experience) was Kingdoms of Amalur. Where not only did the characters deliver exposition in the middle of fighting, but the game would reduce the dialogue volume of characters who weren’t standing right next to you.
The Farsight is the sniper rifle that lets you slow down time. It is indeed awesome and every game should have one. Even if the game has no shooty action in it.
The gun that can shoot through walls is in the first two. In the first one it lets you shoot through but doesn’t let you see through the walls - you have to wave it around until the reticle turns red. In the second one, because you can only carry two weapons at a time, it only shows up occasionally.
On a side note; I haven’t played a CoD game since Black Ops 2 - partly because they’re all very samey, and partly because Spec Ops: The Line cured me of the habit. But having read Tipper Gore* here over at Slate this week (https://slate.com/culture/2018/04/did-todays-news-make-you-crave-hyper-realistic-video-game-viole…
I finished Resistance: Fall of Man a week ago and moved on to Resistance 2.
You have done God’s work, Captain Bubb.
I hope so. Only one of the six I mentioned that I remember back here is Nabin, and they canned him. I think Noel always kept some freelance work here, even when he was on the Dissolve staff. Mike D’Angelo was freelance at the Dissolve, same as here. And I’ve seen Charles Bramesco here occasionally but don’t remember…
Sorry to break it to you, but The Dissolve closed doors three years ago*. I’d love to say that Phipps, Tobias, Robinson, Koski and Rabin are all doing brilliantly, with well paid gigs at prestigious sites which refuse to churn out GJI style content, but unfortunately I’d be lying.
A nuggalope?
After over two months, I finally finished Deus Ex (original game, PS2 port - though played on a PS3). I can’t entirely blame the game’s length for this - I’ve had a lot on and not much free time for game playing - but having said that, it was pretty fucking long for what is basically an FPS. Especially if, like me,…
Correct.
Deus Ex
As well they should. It’s a good word.
Ok, help me out here. What is it that’s linking to this article? Cause I got nearly 30 upvotes on it within the last few days and I’m finding it a bit weird.
