I’m pretty sure that Elite:Dangerous is going to be dangerously addictive for English guys of a certain age. I really, really, want to play it, but haven’t dared yet.

I started Deus Ex late in December, dropped it for a few weeks, then picked it up again this week. I’m still very early in the game - just arrived in Hell’s Kitchen - and I think it’s going to be a long ‘un. Starting to really get into it, now that my eyes have adjusted to its 20th century graphics and I’m gradually

Thanks. She chucked up again on Monday evening, but since then she’s been fine.

It didn’t work out. She was poorly over the weekend, so we stayed in. Which at least resulted in us watching Totoro, Ponyo and Kiki from the comfort of our own living room.

Still finishing off my game of Civ II - World War II scenario as the French. It’s 1952 and after 12 long years of Axis tyranny, my elite French forces have finally re-captured Paris. And also taken Italy, so each turn a host of reinforcements gets transported to Europe from North Africa.

I played Nier last year. Yeah, the second/third playthroughs really change perspective on it.

“It’s interesting how this game is built, you end up going back and forth a lot between planets solving their obstacles a little at a time.”

I’m now imagining a US reboot of ‘Allo ‘Allo!

I’m taking the Lurkling to see Kiki at the cinema this weekend (Totoro was a couple of weekends ago). However, this involves taking a four year old into central London, and the high risk that when we get there she’ll decide that the cinema ought to be playing a different movie.

I thought The Colour of Magic was specifically spoofing contemporary trends in fantasy fiction.

Oddly enough, I’ve never really played the Rome one very much, though I’ve heard the tales of Roman Ironclads battering the gates of Carthage by the scenario end date.

Funnily enough, I actually found it got easier when she started to crawl. Sure, had to baby-proof a lot more things, but she became a lot easier to entertain once she was mobile.

Thank you Tom. This series has been the most excellent thing since The New Cult Canon. Looking forward to the next one.

Continuing my game of Civilization II - World War II Scenario as the French. This is one of the toughest Civ games I’ve played, but I think I’ve finally cracked it. It’s February 1946 (so not that much longer until the normal scenario end date, which I’ll be ignoring as I’m playing a “not-recommended” civ), and the

I’m afraid the gaming time limitations get worse before they get better. (Though generally child-wrangling is something that gets easier over time; first month is the toughest, second is slightly easier than the first, etc.)

Thanks. You have probably spared me 40 hours or so of what would feel rather a lot like being at work.

Well this makes an opportunity to ask something I’ve already asked and been given the answer to and forgot about - how do I go about finding the Gameological Steam group? Is it as obvious as going to some sort of search function in Steam and typing in “Gameological”?

Not recommended as a first (and possibly only) play through then?

PlaneScape Torment is one of those “I’ll get around to it one of these years, when I’ve got a bit more time to concentrate on it” games. Along with Baldur’s Gate and Fallout 2.

2nd should be ok. He’ll just have to get used to birthdays where people are a bit tired after Xmas and New Year and not that enthusiastic about going out.
