100% guaranteed that someone in management moved the exhumation forward to avoid a negative PR event with crying relatives and annoying press coverage.

Whenever the issue of speeding comes to the fore, I think of Jeremy Clarkson’s sage advice: “Speed has never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, that’s what gets you.”

Hard cases make for bad laws.

If I were the call center employee, I’d have paid the $150 on my own card, except that, as a call center employee, I probably couldn’t have afforded it.

IIRC, wasn’t this an outside contractor running the telematics and VW already said that they have made it very clear going forward that they were to help regardless of subscription status? I am VERY sure that VW did not have a policy that said specifically “even in the case of a kidnapping, no subscription, piss off”,

For all the disagreement that exists in the automotive space, I think we can all come together on this one:

...”In 2021, a group of Black sovereign citizens engaged in a hours-long stand off with police after their vehicle broke down on the way to a private “training” facility”

I mean, as an IT guy, this is how I feel trying to buy almost ANY technology.

Considering the unmitigated disaster that is the General Electric move, it’s probably not surprising the Northeast isn’t interested in these factories.

Most of the vehicle manufacturing jobs pay closer to the Michigan average than the ‘bama one and you get to live in a lower COL area. I found Toyota and Honda both over $20/hour and up to $40/hour depending on experience.

There is little to no interest in unions here, there's a reason so many plants are in Alabama. That isn't going to change anytime soon as the hatred is so deeply engrained.

That was some greedy Democrats who signed the deal (had to be, it was Chicago.) No fiscally conservative libertarian would agree to a 75 year contract for a cash windfall today.

Most people knew it was a bad deal from the start, but Mayor Daley pushed this through the city council in such a short time that he didn’t give the citizens a chance to weigh in on the deal. All that money was spent within a few years of getting it so Chicago has nothing to show for it. Daley also sold off the Skyway

rear-ended a pickup truck while lane-splitting like a fucking moron.

Everybody has missiles. Even hyper-sonic ones. The U.S. says it doesn’t have hyper-sonic missiles. Don’t believe it for a second.

Shocking that people aren’t wild about $60k (at 7% interest!) cars with limited, often-broken charging infrastructure and insane repair and maintenance costs.

The TSA is the nations largest theatre troup.

The whole grift is largely unregulated, which is why officials want to get a handle on things.”

The value is from the platinum and other elements inside them.

For the majority of the US, banning right on red is a silly, and impractical idea.
