Credit to Lucas, as inelegant and terrible as the prequels are in execution, but that’s at least a feature and not a bug. The Old Republic being ineffectual and naive about rising fascism is the point; Palpatine is Hitler and everyone else is Neville Chamberlain. But in the post-ROTJ stories, I don’t know that this is

The New Republic needed to be less League of Nations, and more post-WWII and post-Cold War United States; an all-conquering hyper-power whose very presence was historically stabilizing as compared to the absolute chaos and bloodshed of the previous “multi-polar” world.

This is what I find truly annoying about modern criticism. There’s only ONE reason why the New Republic is as messed up as it is. JJ Abrams. He and his creative team made the incredibly lazy decision to just undo all the progress made from defeating the Empire and descended right back into the good guys being a

Why would people laugh at it? If you love trucks and love horsepower, here ya go, right from the factory. I don’t want to own one, but I would like to drive one.

I’d buy one because I think they are cool and it would make me happy.

Has nothing to do with market and everything to do with Stellantis moving from V8s to straight 6s.

They should have just programmed the ECU of the manual cars to know when they are on a dyno and have them keep under the 160g emmission requirement while being tested.

Exactly why it’s not happening any time soon.

The idea hurts my head the more and more I think of it. How about people going to the lake for a weekend/week. You might be able to have public transport to the major places, but say like in Minnesota, like 90% of all those lakes would no longer have anyone go there. So you take public transportation to a lake, wait,

Energy independence isn’t the worry that it used to be, we net export oil.

Absolutely the wrong take-away. Nobody is suggesting the 90s wrecks that Allison, Earnhardt, and others (Ernie Irvan, for example) survived weren’t lucky breaks — that’s why the safety has become such an important aspect of the engineering of these cars AND TRACKS ... but I suspect Elizabeth knows this.

This stinks of

The real journalist is always in the comments.

Good grief! Seriously. Because he refused to hire people that have already broken our laws he is being pilloried?

She more of the man hating type. Sees “toxic masculinity” at ever turn in the automotive world.

Jalopnik seems to hate capitalism. And you need capitalism to manufacture (safe and enjoyable) cars as the process is so incredibly labor and capital intensive.

I think a bigger problem around here is that Jalops are, on average, incredibly judgemental. Around here, there are “right” and “wrong” vehicles to own.

Jalopnik has its moments about hating cars.

The dealers have pointed to a lack of demand for less-than-affluent customers”

Just because it’s come up in a couple of comments -- the MSF does still require long sleeves and long pants to participate. The photos of Alyssa on the bike came from after the course was finished, when everyone had thrown their street gear back on because it was about a million percent humidity out

Sabine Ren is punk rock. Do you know how I know? Because they showed her riding a motorcycle with punk rock music playing and her being sassy. That’s how I know. And that’s how you introduce a character to an audience with rocks in their heads.
