The definition I cited is the second on urbandictionary, right after "magical sparky horn critter".

Yeah, that’s fair; an entirely reasonable definition. Just . . . very much not what “unicorn” is used to mean in contemporary online ‘dating’ at all. I mean, I’m all in favour of letting language be more multifaceted and metaphorical! People should be able to say “unicorn” and mean this! But frankly even after reading

They do realize that a “unicorn” in the online dating world typically refers to a bisexual woman willing to have NSA sex (or be in a long-term sexual relationship with, I’m not sure which is considered rarer) a hetero couple, right? This must be one of those shows that got created because the network heads were like

an elderly lion-cum-sex-god.

Now playing

So we can scratch some Watchmen mysteries off of the list, but others still remain.

Bite my bag. Met some lady at Bingo. Turned into a pretty nice fuckeree.

But erasing someone’s memory so they’d have sex with you, when you know they wouldn’t have had sex with you if their memory was intact, sure is.

I’m also glad this show is back. I hope we get regular recaps instead of the scattershot crap the AV Club did last season.

I’m pretty sure that the “Us and Them” is a Pink Floyd reference, because there's no way it isn't.

Has anyone made the “oh come on, Robert Smith doesn’t look *that* fast” joke yet?

I quote that stupid “Mr Lizard” sketch all the time. People think I'm insane.

Impossible to name one thing Chris Morris has been involved in that wasn’t amazing.

The omission of Galaxy Quest, especially in an AV Club article, is particularly tough. I get that 1999 is one of the best years ever for movies, but that movie very easily could have been a fat turd but by some miracle is basically flawless beginning to end. The delicate line it walks satirizing but clearly revering

Of all the movies on both of these ‘Best of ‘99’ articles, the one I return to most often is Galaxy Quest. Maybe not the ‘best’ (although I could make that argument if I were in the mood), but absolutely my favorite.   BTW Sam Rockwell’s character’s name is Guy Fleegman and I didn’t even have to look that up.

One massive lingering question that’ll probably never get answered (and hasn’t even been alluded to all season) is the notion of David’s adopted parents.

I have never hated a TV character the way I hate Hap. And I mean that as a compliment to Isaacs’ performance.

1) ...as opposed to all those school shootings that are telegraphed from miles away.

Its weirdness leans much more towards dark comedy than LoT’s silliness. Well worth trying for its own sake, though.

Mighty Straw!
