This is probably because I've been surrounded by too many man-children, but I find it so attractive when a man just does grown man things. Someone who carries a handkerchief, owns a bookshelf filled with actual books, wears nice shoes and knows how to shine them himself, and can cook a meal, paint a wall, do simple

Do you think he'll give out awards?

I never understood the sadistic pace for medical residencies. I don't want a doctor or an intern who hasn't slept in 36 hours looking at me. Yes, if you can dispense adequate levels of care in that condition then you're a badass, but that doesn't mean you're practicing good medicine. It seems to me like the medical

My husband can make or fix anything. Anything, I tell you. The beautiful cherry four-paneled bookshelves in our living room? He made those. Ditto the entertainment center, our daughter's loft bed/playhouse, and her "big girl bed". Also the end tables in our bedroom. And he can fix anything — washing machines,

This, this, this!

I fear wristwatches will fall entirely out of style and sexy, moderately hairy forearms with nice bony wrists will no longer be adorned with them.

Advancing a policy of silence unless babies, pretty tops or wifeliness are being discussed.

Anecdotal opinion:

Yup. When I was in private practice I was in a big, soul-sucking firm and I was one of just a handful of women who stuck it out and made it to partner. Our website told the story is such a comical way. My favorite part was how a male partner would announce he had to leave a meeting early to attend a kid's soccer

This is a great point. As a lady lawyer who began her career in a business litigation practice, I can confirm that law is still very much an old boy's club in many ways. We're progressing but by no means is the war won!

And the fact is, women HAVE to get advanced degrees to have any hope of being paid a decent wage. Men still make more with bachelors degrees than women do with master's degrees. So, the fact that we feel higher education. Is basically mandatory isn't really a huge victory.

I'd be interested to see numbers on student loan debt repayment for men vs women — how many of those women in grad school, law school, medical school are ending up in ruinous debt to be there, and how many of them manage to land jobs afterwards that actually allow them to pay it back?

Of course the GOP is in favor of women advancing!

What I don't get is how an ex-mistress would have been that surprised to find out that she was being cheated upon.

I hear you. It's like with kale and other cruciferous greens: Black people and poor white people have been eating greens for HUNDREDS of years. And then a few years ago rich people "discovered" kale, and greens, which were super cheap, are now very expensive for a working class family to afford! :-(

Well, yeah - obviously my ancestors were genocidal land-stealing thugs and my husband's people scared all of the Germans out of Bushwick... but I'm not sure that "circle of life" is all there is to say to class warfare.

Want to hear a rant?

When we have a new, ill-defined word for people we don't like and that we deny being ourselves even though everyone knows we totally are one. Remember yuppies and hippies and beatniks and flappers and the New Woman and fops and rakes?

I'm more worried what happens when they don't get a clean shot or get bored of tracking.

That's the part that terrifies me.
