Their thinking in this are is rigid because they rarely have to stretch in this way.
Comedians who tell jokes like yours reinforce the status quo. You are not being countercultural, edgy, or speaking truth to power.
Thank you for dropping knowledge and referring to color theory. Many people don’t get it even after being taught *for free* because they want to pretend their experience is universal. I also love how you celebrate how some WOC have different colors in their face which adds dimension and beauty.
Yeah, true makeup artists worth their salt understand how to adjust for different faces. WOC require nuance far beyond 3 shades of brown to encompass all of us.
I know what you are talking about. Bobbi Brown referred to using 2 foundations on WOC clients to match their skin, because the forehead is usually darker than the cheeks, for example. WW are pretty open about expressing themselves in some areas, and so far none (few?) have brought up the idea of needing more that one…
Thank you for sharing. Bobbi Brown has even written in her book that many WOC have 2 main face colors. I am so fed up with constantly trying dark foundations that are too red, orange or yellow. My undertones lean blue, especially in the summer.
There are so many shades of pink lipstick available. Brown? Not so much. There are 2 lip glosses that worked for me (Kelly Rowland coloring) as a neutral & a pale neutral, but they were discontinued and I can’t find duplicates.
