Basement-dwelling neckbeards built the game up to be the second coming of jesus fucking christ and seem to have convinced themselves that this game was gonna be so good it was boing to make their lives finally have meaning. Game comes out, is meh (I paid full price for it, it was fine, it wasn’t as good as I’d hopes

why, pray tell WHY, do people give SUCH a shit about this game that their thirst to discredit the game at all chances is so unquenchable? Can’t it just be a boring game that under-delivered and we all go on living our lives?

Right! That’s exactly what I mean. In games that feel like there’s weight, you come to talk about your character in terms of yourself: “he shot me. I ran into the wall”. Because the virtual heft, as you put it, immerses you into the world and creates a sense of proprioception.

This looks like a Blizzardy Overwatch game made in last-gen’s Unreal Engine. I didn’t realize how much I’d come to be used to rim lighting and ambient occlusion.
