That’s a great idea.

That’s pretty much what I’m used to. Expendable stuff that would need to be bought no matter what, possibly some cute clothes, but no major big ticket things.

That’s common where I am too. The showers for the non-first-borns here tend to be much smaller and the gifts mostly expendables that you wouldn’t have held on to, like diapers, wipes, pacifiers, etc. I don’t mind those ones. It fun to get excited about a baby, eat cake, etc. as long as the expectations are apropriate

If it’s just a night out, then yeah, Bachellorettes usually cover the bride as well. Some of them get so elaborate and “weekends away” kind of thing plus sometimes multiple bridal showers plus now dress parties (shopping for the wedding dress) is apparently a thing? Or I have a self centered friend who doesnt’ want to

That’s why I like flatware and place settings, etc. I can buy one or two and stay in budget. it’s the old school way of getting a bunch of people to go in on a gift together.

Seriously? I mean, go ahead and register for some new towels and sheets and all, but come on.

This 100%. I had several friends get married at a time when I was super broke so I just plain couldn’t afford a present. I stressed about it for a while, because I really did WANT to, I just couldn’t. Finally it reached the point where I realized that chances are they will never have to buy me one either, so hey, not

TOTALLY. Registries are for Gramma who wants to buy you a nice thing and your great aunt across the country who loves you but has no idea what you can use because you haven’t seen her in person in ten years.

I don’t really think that should be an issue, honestly. But I also am a big fan of giving cash/gift cards to couples. You know what you want better than I do plus I don’t have to carry anything.

I was wondering about the church thing too. The only reasonable answer I could think of was zoning laws that have to do with child care facilities, since the majority of churches have at least part time child care/educational services associated with them.

This is pretty clearly creepy to me:

If I remember correctly the footage is from one of the White House Correspondents dinners. It is real.

so wierd! Does she work at a counter a lot or another flat surface she might lean against without thinking about it??

Yeah, this is significantly more positive and kind than every other “we sold you losers” email I’ve even gotten from upper management.

I wash my sheets and towels in hot. I don’t know if it’s 100% necessary, but it makes me feel a lot better.

yeah, I’m stuck with whatever the laundromat has, so I don’t have much choice there. Fortunately I’ve found the commercial grade dryers at mine are designed to be as efficient as possible, plus with the larger size barrel it keeps the clothes from getting too beat up.

It’s probably rubbing against the button or belt buckle on her jeans (if she mostly wears jeans). If she wears a belt with a prong she might want to try swapping it out and see if it stops, it might be poking out a tiny bit and snagging the fabric.

If I hang dry everything I would be living in a humid maze of wet clothes. :)

This is pretty much what I do too. I learned to wash everything on cold when I worked in a costume shop, it’s true it’s way better for the clothes. Also, if I use fabric softener sheets I cut the sheets in half, you don’t need a full one for a normal load and a whole one can cause buildup on the fabric that will start

Hearing the bit in context, and with his verbal/physical intonations, as I did last night, I kinda think that’s what he was getting at.
