Exactly, if for whatever weird reason you really desperately need to use female rather than woman “one of them being female...” rather than “one of them being A female” that makes it work. Yes, this is exactly it, female is an adjective, even when it’s used as a legal designation it is at some point defined what it is an adjective to (ie female employee, hereafter “female”). So it should be, “As a female (adj) Game Stop employee I try to hire other women (n.).” etc.
