These are actually kinda great designs. They give you a preview of what you’re playing in a single image, and the choice to have elements break the frame make things seem more engaging and interesting. I do love the gold cartridge tho.

TJ Miller also states “and I didnt wanna do any more Silicon Valley”

He followed it up with “I find being cast in movies and projects really stressful and don’t want to do that anymore. Please stop asking me to be in things”

No middle sliders

mind you, i’m not saying the new design is bad. I’m just saying we’re perceiving it as “wrong” because it’s not the thing we’ve been seeing consistently for 26 years.

It’s the mascot. I see Nintendo’s point in keeping him consistent for better or worse. This is just the first time in a long time that the main product has deviated from what we’re used to

I said this in another article but:

This isn’t so much “bad” cause it’s actually not terrible visually. The problem here is that they’re adapting a property that has had 3D renders of characters since around 1996. That’s at least 26 years of a design being in the public consciousness.

To top that off, the designs have

I just wanted to also add to the people telling you that you’re wrong.

I think Mario particularly suffers from the fact that any stylization will be perceived wrong because we’ve had a 3D mario since 1996 and he’s remained, roughly, about the same. Adjusting any of his features immediately brings up something like an uncanny valley response.

I blame Kanye for opening the door to bad design at ridiculous prices for apparel like that.

You have a rosier outlook on humanity that I do then.

I was gonna say that. He made San Francisco his home for a while too.

the article literally starts with “the duration of the pandemic” when people weren’t going outside much.

that’s not the mustache of a young man

and Brendan is big, but also not whale big.

Eh, the starting lineup series is like $50 and it seems more aimed at adult collectors. That and Marvel and GI Joe characters from the same company have tattoos prominently. It’s squarely a rights and licensing thing.

They should be able to, but they didn’t. Lebron is a good example because Hasbro is making action figures of him now as a part of their starting lineup collection and guess what is missing from all the figures?

for the lulz probably.

probably refunding him because he’s butthurt about losing and making wild accusations. It’s funnier to me that he complained so she gave him his money back.

and none of these are a switch port of Chrono Trigger.
