If there's anything that Terminator 3 taught me, it's that sometimes it's better to leave a series alone and not make unnecessary terrible sequels that screw up the time travel chronology. But that's pretty specific and not always applicable to other situations.

Even in Star Trek, there's no real reason not to introduce more female characters, or to use more of the existing female characters in non-sexist ways. Carol Marcus was "destined" to fall for Kirk, sure, but she didn't have to be so thoroughly defined by that.
Off the top of my head I don't remember any of the men in Bridesmaids interacting with each other directly, but I could be forgetting.
