... perhaps even moreso than we might think if the theory that this is an isekai Final Fantasy of “three dudes from literal modern day earth gets dumped into FF1" proves true:

Well that last part suddenly make sense when you look at how traditional the design for Garland seem compared to the protagonist’s clashing aesthetic.... and the fact the whole story might be a literal “What if FF1 was a dark fantasy... isekai?”

So these might be LITERALLY “three guys who are totally not allowed back

Honestly that, and I feel if it’s indeed the case that could be worth the popcorn.
Since I could see a lot of incidental humor, intentional or not, stemming from re: “Three random dudes from literal modern day earth get dumped into the world of FF1 to re-enact the story of the warriors of light”. Especially with the

In this case this might be a rare case of “we made those character design like that on purpose” because there’s a lot of hints this could be.... an isekai.

As in not just “Final Fantasy protagonists straight out of shopping mall clothes store” but rather literally “three dudes from literal mundane modern day Earth gets

I’m curious what Square’s market research is like, and where they’re getting this idea that FF fans want protagonists that are so... bland.”

.... I suspect it’s the kind that tries to appeal to the “west” and just looked “okay, what does the average protagonists look like in Popular Western Game 101. Oh. Okay... I

Tbh the stylistic dissonance might be voluntary in this case. The title is “Stranger of Paradise” Final Fantasy Origin, and there’s art of the characters in what seem to be very.... mundane earth dude clothes.

So what I’m trying to say is that this could *literally* be a FF1 Isekai story of “what if we dumped three

Tbh a lot of these games seemed to be on the “graphical fidelity/realism” end of the AAA spectrum and a consequence of that is that they often cost a boatload of money to make.

Which means they require even more copies sold to make even the slightest amount of profits.
I suspect Avengers had been in that category iirc.

It might literally be an *isekai* parody because there’s art/illustration of the characters and they’re all wearing *very* mundane modern earth human dudes clothes.

So the story might not just be “FF1 parody” but literally “three mundane Earth dudes get dumped into FF1 as it’s ‘warriors of light’” parody.

... tbh I heard the theory that with art of the characters in modern earth clothes AND the title “Stranger in Paradise Final Fantasy Origin”(emphasis on the “Stranger” part for this point) we might not be looking at a reimagining of FF1 but rather an ISEKAI reimagining of FF1.

That “We’re the warriors of light!”

I know nothing about Verum Rex but the title of “Stranger In Paradise Final Fantasy Origin” make me suspect we might not be just looking at a reimagining of FF1, but literally an *isekai* reimagining of it with just literally “three mundane earth dudes” dumped into the world of FF1.

Plus there IS illustrations of all

Tbh it looks like an *isekai* take on FF1(the name “Stranger in Paradise” feels like a very big cue, alongside those character designs) so that could explains.... a lot about what we’re seeing here.

Though that “gotta kill CHAOS” dialogue still feels...
.... uhhh...

I guess I’ll see how it turns out when they have more

I dunno but to a degree I suspect this might be intentional for the characters to be so “cliche modern fashion/etc” when contrasted to a Garland who very much retain his very traditional armored design.

I’ve seen people note(especially with a title like *Stranger in Paradise* Final Fantasy Origin) this might literally

Honestly, I saw a theory musing if the game could literally be an isekai version of FF1.

I.e.: literally Mundane Modern Earth Humans Somehow Dumped Into FF1's World to take the roles of it’s Warriors of Light.

Which might explains why that one character going Yes! We are the Warriors of Light! Totally” felt so akward

Looking by the illustrations of them with modern day clothes, I’ve seen people wonder if the “story” isn’t literally “actually what if we made a FF1 isekai and dumped Literal Modern Day Humans into FF1?”

That might explains the almost akwardkness of the lither guy borderline going “Yeah, we’re totally the warriors of

One theory I saw noted somewhere is that this might literally be “Final Fantasy 1... the Isekai” and these characters might be *literal* mundane earth characters.... dumped into the world of Final Fantasy 1.

Honestly if that’s the case it’d at least upgrade my interest from “slightest level of curiosity” to “mildly

Admitedly that’s “confirmed”. That doesn’t mean later updates couldn’t confirm other games to release in 2021 once they feel confident enough to.

Plus if anything in there’s coming to Switch there’s heavy chances of it showing up in Nintendo Directs if not outright published by Nintendo itself for that console in the

Mechanics wise, I’d say it’s the entry where the series really got it’s stride and very much set the norms of every titles that followed(particularly in terms of character roles, spells, etc).

Story wise, I’d say it depends on a couple of factors. On one hand, all your characters(except for the hero) are from a

With “added surprises” even, which make it sounds like they could be overhauled somewhat more than just visually.
Makes me wonder if this could mean stuff like 1 being made larger and/or see stuff like party members added or such, like more fleshed-out story.

In fact that’s perhaps my only “worry” with the remake of 3

One thing I’ve noted is that announcements of ports were strangely absent. Albeit not that strangely.

Many people were hoping for port of the DS remakes of 4-5-6 as well as a port of 8 but instead the presentation was truly all about brand new games. Even the remake of 3 is one using brand new graphics engine/etc

It’s actually been confirmed they did. Some of Octopath Traveler’s own team is working on this.
