I would say though that the dynamic generated quest concept itself if kind of the problem though.

By very definition.... it’s filler that’s trying to claim it isn’t and generally is only just above a fetch quest. And specifically it’s filler that make it clear it’s trying to extend playtime by producing the idea of

“Given how fast AI is advancing” feels like a bit of a difficult thing for me though; are there a lot of businesses trying to push it more and more as projects they began 2-3 years ago are coming to fruition before a ship could even be turned? Perhaps.

But as an actual tech I feel it’s kinda.... plateauing? Even as

The DC?

I’d argue I always find amusing this conversation keep coming up regarding the companies most likely to blame for having pushed the cost of game development so much to levels I kind of feel are unsustainable using hardware they couldn’t even sell at a profit on release instead of consoles they could sell without,

I feel like the game industry is reaching the point of pushing ‘stronger’ hardware only because industry decided it’s time to push new hardware for ‘better shinier more cinematographic’ graphics. Like, fuck, people don’t need graphics where they see every pores on notKeanu Reeve’s nose in Cyberpunk. But the industry

I’d say a 4 years cycle for console is still an insane standard for how hardware progression should be expected and that things in the gaming industry would be MUCH better if we dropped that standard and made 7 years the *minimum* before new hardware should start being considered at all.

The western-influenced ‘AAA’

Honestly if you think about it, it’s just all the console war “identify by the Brands You Consume” BS taken to it’s logical extreme.

the cynic in me has me wondering if they’re doing this now because they know AI is under fire for a lot of it’s ethical issues so they want to get as big and updated a dataset before some regulation might shut down some of their crap.

Honestly the way you describe how tedious the experience feels just make me think about how the entire genre as handled by Bethesda eventually made me feel I think; I’ve been playing ever since Morrowind, played Oblivion and Skyrim. Tried to dabble with the Bethesda Fallout games too.... but ultimately I kept bouncing

Seconding that.... I’d be tempted to debate the “writing” aspect in modern Bethesda games. Not that there isn’t bits of questlines here and there that aren’t really good but how the *structure* of the world kind of negate a lot of it in my opinion after playing these games for a while(I’d actually purchased Skyrim on

What I’m realizing the more I’ve played Bethesda games over the years but perhaps at it’s most blatant in Skyrim is that their games don’t really have “narratives” as much as they are glorified amusement parks. Where every rides (for the most parts) outright exists independent of each others in silos despite being

Tbh it hit me recently that the reason I bounce off those so hard might be because of that “make the player the center of everything” philosophy.

Because it made me realize Bethesda games aren’t even narrative games anymore, at least in a fashion. That is not to say there isn’t any narrative; there are plenty. A *ton*

There is kind of a weird irony when the same developers that made the horribly linear Skyward Sword essentially have now been making a game that better answer the compulsion of “I meant to do this, but then I saw this, which led to this, where I saw this, which led to this”as they’ve managed in BotW/TotK but in the

Honestly the description of how they handle heroes in Elder Scrolls/Bethesda games might explains a lot why I have had a hard time to get into them after Morrowind despite the *mechanics* of that game being what drew me off from it more than anything rather than the open world nature.

And that’s because while Morrowind

That last point is a big one since iirc they haven’t released 70USD games since?

So yeah.

And tbh BOTW+ToTK have been so huge I’m almost past beyond what I can tolerate of open worlds ^^;
That is to say I love/hate open worlds because I love the larger environments but my “too much stuff and sidequests to do” tolerance

Tbh I’d love “something”, even just the smallest of free updates, to address where Kass went/bring him back..... but at the same time ToTK is so big/has so much that it’s already skirting dangerously close to me “too much stuff to do” tolerance treshold that often lead me to drop from most open world games before I

I mean tbh I think after something as huge as ToTK, I’d be entirely fine with a smaller scope side/smaller game before a we get a full scope open world experience like this again.

Honestly “getting old by console standard” when the console released Tears of the Kingdom doing technical stuff such that many devs are outright flaggerblasted that it “only” took 6 years to develop or run as well as it does in the first place is... dunno.

It might be me getting old, but I wouldn’t mind if this truly

Afaik only the WiiU actually was sold at a loss for Nintendo; probably contibuted to them building the Switch the way they did in term of hardware/horsepower so as to try to avoid ever making that mistake again.

It might take time getting used to but a friend couldn’t help but notice how many of the character’s poses and animations seem directly lifted from the art style of the old instruction manuals which seem to be a very nice touch.

Honestly I was absolutely not expecting a new 2D-ish game so I’m tempted to give this one a
