I have no idea why, but I prefer every Takahata film I've seen to every Miyazaki film I've seen. His stuff clicks with me in a way Miyazaki's doesn't.

I have actually. I don't think I'm going to blow any minds when I say it's still pretty sad on a second viewing.

Takahata>Miyazaki

I feel the same way.

Yeah, that's my preference for reboots without the original creator: just go all the way into something new. Don't half-ass it.

I just checked, we're safe.

I thought Noel had stepped down voluntarily but I might've missed something.

It's good to have Rabin back writing for the AV Club, even in a freelance basis. Hell, I'd be more than happy to welcome back any future ex-Dissolve writer.

Here's a weird bit of "Arachnophobia" trivia: the Roger Rabbit short "Roller Coaster Rabbit" was supposed to play in front of this. Apparently Spielberg was banking on the film being a hit and wanted the Roger Rabbit short to help guarantee its success. Well, Disney had "Dick Tracy" coming out around the same time and

Most of Brad Bird's obsession with "exceptional" people can be traced back to the 80s and 90s and his many, many, many failed attempts to get films made. On that Ben Schwartz/Matt Selman livestream, Mike Scully called in and mentioned "Homer vs. Dignity" was an episode that he's not particularly proud of.

Bumbershoot had a panel last year with a bunch of current Simpsons writers including Michael Price, Jeff Westbrook, J. Stewart Burns, Kevin Curran and Carolyn Omine. It was a lot of fun and it was obvious the writers had nothing but passion for the show.

Here's a fun video from 2007: Phil Lord and Chris Miller discuss why "Clone High" was canceled and reveal the origins to the episode "Litter Kills: Litterally." There are spoilers i guess, but who cares really.

From what I understand, the artists on "Total Drama Island" were told to ripoff the character design style of "Clone High."

I actually really like "Adoration." It reminded me a lot of his 80s work in terms of style and tone. I haven't too many other folks share my opinion though, so take that recommendation with a grain of salt.

I can't believe there's another person out there who likes both "Land of the Lost" AND "Your Highness." You're OK by me, Jesse.
