“We just competed, and that’s what it was” is gonna be my go-to defense next time I bust someone’s jaw.

I’m loving the comments that totally don’t read like they’ve been written by a Russian speaker and translated into English, no sir. This was clearly written by someone as American as apple pie:

It’s amazing the shit that the Kremlin will pay shitposters to talk about these days.

90%

Perhaps 90% of ultra-white, mamby-pamby, self-righteous, ass-sitting-on-the-flag Trumpians, but not of the general public.

Don’t forget Mountain Dew and Marlboro Reds in that equation.

But Martin Luther King was alive, like, well over a 100 years ago.

I think it’s interesting that many people think that what NFL players are doing is terrible and believe they have little in common with the civil rights protests of the 1960s. People today have this idea that there was wide support for the civil rights protesters and that Martin Luther King Jr. was widely admired. MLK

When I was in college (a long time ago) I took a class on economics and collective bargaining in sports. One of the professors was a former NFL player from the 70's and early 80's. In one class he was discussing his experience as part of the NFLPA and mentioned that the most effective action they ever took was

it only took a year for them to listen, that’s pretty good

Oh come on! We both know no one tunes in on Thursday nights

He echoed something he had said several months ago by saying that “the overwhelming majority” of fans he hears from “believe that we should be ordering the players to stand.”

“When I viewed my players as actual human beings instead of faceless replaceable cogs in my perpetual money machine, I learned they have real and valid things to say.”

I don’t like the idea of mandated patriotism at any level. While I understand anyone’s opposition to the protest — I come from a military family myself — as long as the players protest in a manner that doesn’t keep anyone who wants to salute the flag and anthem from doing so, they should be within their constitutional

You seem to misunderstand how protest works, but keep on being oblivious if that suits you.

Then fire the players and replace them with players who won’t kneel during the anthem.

Hey NFLPA, can you also make it so my 6 year old doesn’t have to say the pledge of allegiance at school every morning?

I think Trump has to be given credit here for creating such a toxic atmosphere that most the owners are hesitant to clamp down on the players out of fear they’ll look like they’re supporting an unabashed racist as well as someone who is openly rooting for the NFL to fail.

I hope the redneck yokels who voted for Trump all collectively combust in a mist of Natural Light and Axe Body Spray.

As a Packers owner who has always supported the players’ right to protest, I’m glad my fellow owners are starting to see things the same way.
