Hmm, the article seems to imply that ATV-based XBMC installations can't sync to a mysql db. I don't think that's right - I can find the appropriate files on my ATV1. I'll bet it'd work.

ok, i have this installed and running, and i'm thoroughly unimpressed! Really, it doesn't tell me anything useful. Yes, it tells me upload and download speeds, but it's updated so quickly as to be largely useless. Yes, i can see programs that have active network connections, but it doesn't tell me anything about

thanks everyone - downloading now! Downloading now and not before because the login is so screwed at LH, I have to use IE to get to my account, and hence only see replies once a week or so. blech.

my worries with these monitoring apps are always the same: how much extra load and delay will it introduce? Some chew up CPU cycles, others keep the HDD busy, and others seem to put other detours in the OS that somehow, mysteriously, gum up the works. Any thoughts from folks who have used this one?

yep - i use splashid.

i know everyone is gaga over lastpass. My beef is that it's no good for important numbers that aren't logins. Credit card numbers and frequent flyer numbers, for example. At least, that was my impression the last time i evaluated it.

perhaps theoretically. but instapaper doesn't seem to support pdf's. clicking the instapaper bookmark when viewing a pdf in safari on the iphone results in an error.

Not sure what you mean by "its not there on the version before this." You mean you're running 10.x, aka Dharma? If so, it looks the same to me now as it did before. I run mine on apple tv. Anyway, there's the 0/1 button in the lower left. Click that, and then click exit. See it?

look for something that says "exit"

i haven't played with it too much - how do you add something to the home screen?

The reason I'm trying to transition to barefoot running is for lower impacts and avoided injuries. Perhaps some folks were trying to make an efficiency argument, i dunno. But most evidence i've seen points to the fact that fore/mid-foot landing with bare feet has lower maximum force than heel-landing with shoes.

Slick. So, one question: the MX 5500 kit is bluetooth. The MX Revolution mouse comes with a USB dongle. Is the dongle a bluetooth transceiver, or something else? And if something else, any idea what the difference is in performance between the two? I'm not gaming, but I do appreciate responsive devices!

so, any big differences between the old vs new version other than the thumbwheel? do both feel pretty ergo? I live in tropical climes and i'm concerned about how long rubberized surfaces will last here. are both version rubberized?

I'm looking for a new ergonomic mouse! My intellimouse explorer 3 has finally died. The Microsoft Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 [www.amazon.com] looks nice in the way it puts your hand in the handshake position. Any other suggestions?

Here's my problem: On my iPhone, I want to be able to mark an online pdf to read later on my computer. The problem is that these pdf's are from online journals, and are only open to IP's from subscribing institutions (such as my university). I can read them via my VPN or web proxy, but "read it later" has issues

thanks for the tips. and, you didn't get the muad'dib reference! muad'dib, ...muad'dib...muad'dib.........MUAd'dib.........MUAD'dib....MUAD'DIB........BAAAAAMMMM! [www.youtube.com] @ 1:15

update: modded with the file linked in the link above. seems to work like a charm! thanks for the tip, CamJN!

and block which IPs? Found this, not sure if it's reliable: [modmyi.com]

thanks for the refs. I tried AdBlocker, but felt like it was really gumming up the works and slowing things down (when the opposite is the goal!). Firewall IP sounds ok, except, which hostnames/IPs do you block?
