You can deal with this, and other potential ways of facebook tracking you (via IP for example - they don't necessarily need cookies!) with a couple adblock plus lines (covered in LH previously and [albosure.blogspot.com] ). I also recommend using CSFire if you're on firefox. Facebook isn't the only big brother out

yep, no winterboard, but still slow...

Simple HTML pages: i'm putting one up for personal stuff (CV's, etc). Any suggestions for templates? I have dreamweaver, figured I could use that, but other suggestions welcome. I know HTML, but wanna put something up that's easy but looks nice (read: i don't want to spent hours on end on this). A google search

I've installed a bunch of good stuff on my jailbroken iphone 3G. Springboard started in safe mode the other day, and boy, it was fast!! Makes me wonder which of my installed extensions is really slowing my iOS down. Any suggestions for tracking down the worst culprits?

haha - no prob. just has happened a couple times on LH recently, so thought I'd chirp. ;-)

I *highly* recommend roasting your own beans. Another reason to do it is that you'll save money over other "high quality" beans (though, if you become an enthusiast, you'll probably end up blowing cash on equipment!). I've completely lost whatever taste I had for the insanely-overroasted beans of peet's and

yep! what a pain. Here's what "Joe Brown" posted as an explanation for this (f'ed up) behavior [getsatisfaction.com] :

it'd be nice if kayak and the like integrated foreign sites into their meta-searches.

The old american houses in the canal zone in panama have these. 1930's technology today.

I'm surprised that LH hasn't caught on to the home roasting tip. For those interested, the best resource I've found is sweetmarias.com (based in Oakland, CA). It's so easy - you can just do it with a popcorn popper, and you can order green beans online. The beans from sweet marias are TOP quality, and you'll get

there are "dial plans" on sipsorcery that do all the http magic for you. Same thing with OBI i think. So, no website nothing. Just pick up your handset and dial. Very cool, though pretty damn kludgey!

I'm not sure if those are baidu ranges. But, from what I saw online, baidu robots have a particular useragent string (that changed a while back) that has "baidu" or something in it. Perhaps it will take plenty of computing power to sift through useragent strings before rejecting the connection - my guess is that it

I have a Nikon D40. Perfect entry level (I now have my eyes on an upgrade, but $$$!). The D40 is great, and until you really get into it, you won't even know you're missing any features. Don't even know if Nikon still sells 'em new, but if not, pick up a used one.

I haven't delved into this stuff for quite a while, so I can't offer anything off the top of my head. Here's what I came up with online though:

"the guy" is Anderson "The Spider" Silva, and is so amazing. He does that all the time, and is SOOO good, that he just kicks total ass.

have you tried thunderbird configured with IMAP? You can also install an extension that makes the conversations in TB look like those in GMail - LH covered it a while back [lifehacker.com] .

ooma = $150, with free US calls for life (the life of the company, that is). Call quality is apparently excellent.

yep! i was big fan of autoduel, wasteland and ultima. they were so awesome, and no need for all the graphics. i was just as enthralled then with my little 8-bit wimp as kids are today with their supercomputers.

why place it at the bottom of the pot near the drainage? most of the goodness will leach out. probably better to just place it on the top, or mix it in the middle somewhere.
