@KaemonKei: I have used the BBB for very valid complaints. However, i'm sure many random ones get put in there as well.

@swc oxcart: i'd like to hear the answer to this one too. Personally, I still suffer with Word. But I would *love* to change to something that handled longer documents with inserted graphics better. anyone?

@Xacor: Try writing a document longer than 20 pages with graphics inserted into it in Word. Just make sure you don't have a loaded gun nearby, because you'll probably either use it on yourself, or on your computer.

@isochronous: whatever microsoft's "research" says, i can guarantee you that my tasks take more clicks to complete. Perhaps that wasn't their intention, but in my case, that was the result.

Word sucks so bad, it's completely amazing to me that it's still the standard word-processing tool for the world.

@CougarAries: That's usually true, except for when the change sucks ass, such as the change in the Ribbon, and in the change in Gawker. The ribbon increases the number of clicks you need to get your task done, and makes it less customizable. The Gawker redesign is busy and crappy and just generally sucks. No amount

It's mentioned in the article, but i wanted to emphasize it since it's saved me a ton time, frustration and money: use the Better Business Bureau [www.bbb.org] to your advantage. Most reputable companies really do care what the BBB says about them.

i've generally had back luck with remanufactured toner cartridges. The prints always seem to come out light.

@AreWeThereYeti: haha - touché! So, you might save a couple bucks by using a laptop. Using a desktop, you spend a couple extra bucks, probably.

i'll bet you'll pay the $6/month you'd otherwise spend on a VPN service in extra utility bills by having an always-on computer at home (if you don't already have one). Plus, VPN services probably have better bandwidth.

@Bramsey89: don't forget about getting fat too!

@Ninja Nemo: Oh silly Ninja. Didn't you hear? SSH'ing into your iphone is just *cool*.

@neuralien: dunno - iOS probably uses it to run certain processes more safely (?). Regardless, the user exists, and can probably be used to log into SSH. Hence the need to change the password.

You should change the password for the "mobile" user as well.

i looked into lastpass, but it looked like it was totally focused on web passwords. I want my "password" database to hold credit card numbers, frequent flyer numbers, etc. Doesn't everyone? It looked to me like lastpass was ill-equipped to handle that. Please correct me if i'm wrong. But just as an example, the
