i have mixed feelings about aggregating everything under one google account. Right now I have about 3 or 4 google accounta, and while it makes managing my stuff a little annoying and confusing at times, I hope that means the same thing for big brother google.

@wjglenn: haha - your post is an exercise in taking a quote out of context. I said, "M$ prefers to dictate how we use their software instead of giving us options". Are you trying to say that noone gives options in how software is configured? That microsoft got rid of the old office toolbar and only implements the

@pmbaustin: that's still 2 clicks away to launch a program. That makes a big difference when it's something as common as starting an email. gat0rjay's solution is great.

@gat0rjay: holy crap! yay! thanks!

@iidebaser: thanks for the effort. Those enormous icons take up a HUGE amount of real estate! I'm interested in double-rows of the small, quicklaunch-style icons. And it can't be done as of yet.

@tommertron: I miss the old quicklaunch in a BIG way. I run so many different programs, and I don't want their big icons staring at me all the time (why must I have my password manager icon taking staring at me all day?). So, I've used Standalone Stack for my quicklaunch, but that kinda sucks since now it takes me 2

@starbuck13: Why not use URL forwarding [en.wikipedia.org] ? If I'm not mistaken, some DNS hosts will do that for you. In that case, when someone types in www.yourdomain.com into their browser, they'll end up at [flavors.me]. Of course, they will no longer see www.yourdomain.com in their address bar, so not ideal,

@straightshooter1: I think this gets to the real rub here. One strategy is to create a presence that is strong enough to stand out, shows what you want to show, and potentially overwhelm the multitudes of other little hits google gets on your name, etc. The other route is to try to keep as private as possible.

@iHack: that 3 month free thing, i believe, is for the web hosting. You get a domain name for a year free, i think.

@Aarrrgh: Nice idea, but i'd be surprised if it worked, given that you have to allow [flavors.me] access to facebook, twitter, etc, within those sites' privacy settings.

@Jen007: oh yeah - my bad.

@Jen007: Uh, 3 ants is an "infestation"?

@hnkelley: you're certainly right - not everything is about cleanliness. But I'll be 90% of the cases are. Furthermore, as I and others have mentioned, some ants here and there aren't a big deal, though I understand the need to deal with major invasions.

@Aarrrgh: or, you just use virtuawin, and drag the 4 windows to an empty desktop.

1. The best deterrent is to keep your place clean. If you see ants, clean up your act and let them go away on their own.

not sure why i'd use this over the camelizer [lifehacker.com] which has a sweet FF add-on to boot.

@Aarrrgh: what if you need 4 different windows for your task at hand? For example, a firefox window, a Word window, a stats program and an acrobat window?

Combine this with CHDK's DOF (depth of field) stacking and you're golden.
