For all those wondering - you just go into your skype account [secure.skype.com] and set the number in the Caller ID section.

@mattycakes: yeah - my "likes" are coming up too. How can I quash those? I'd like to quash my time zone and updated_time too - anyone know how to take care of these issues?

how does this differ from intel speedstep? I wonder what the savings are compared to that...

@Ishbar: Hence my use of the past-tense when i said "what the failure rates for ibm thinkpads *were*". Comparing failure rates of T4x and T6x to Tx00 and Tx10, while not entirely comparable, could still reveal important differences. For example, the hinge of my screen on my lenovo model is bugging out. I don't

I'd be interested to know what the failure rates for ibm thinkpads were versus lenovo thinkpads. My experience suggests ibm was much better, but a sample size of 1 has little inductive power.

This is especially relevant for buying new-to-you gadgets. The reason why someone might be selling their portable phone set on ebay might be because they've hit one of the common problems found on review and fixit sites.

@daddydave: well, in that case you might as well just use a "g" quick search - kinda defeats the whole purpose.

@chickdigger802: yeah, you wish. it takes too long for single-word searches though, since FF has to check in the top domain DNS servers (or at least I think that's what it's doing) before it gets a negative result and defaults to google. Multi-word searches work just fine though.

@tylerf: I'd go with Sandboxie or Fortes for proggies I don't have to install. Installables, yeah, it's either the VM or the real thing.

@djnrempel: symantec corporate has flagged keygens and the like as "hacktools" before, and quarantined them. There's no easy way to stop this behavior, becuase other "hacktool"-classified apps are truly dangerous.

It worked on my account, though i didn't go through with a fine-toothed comb to verify. Still, everything appeard in thunderbird as it should afterwards. I assume multi-tags go through as well, but can't verify.

here's an option: get your own google apps account (which requires a domain name) and sign up for a trial version of the Premium plan (which you have to cancel within 30 days). Use the tools in the Premium account to migrate your previous gmail/google apps account to your new one. Tags all remain in place, etc.

@luckycharms: oops! correction: the current size and position of windows are set as the default when you add them to autosizer's list. yay!

@2 replies: The whole dichotomy between "programs", "OS" and "data" has always been far more grey in my mind than those advocating such an approach. You can't keep your programs and reinstall your OS - most of your programs would break. Many programs necessarily keep data and settings in the program folder, or other

by the time i need a new drive, my OS is usually so bogged down that it's time for a clean reinstall of everything anyway.

what a pain. Yes, you can automatically resize windows. No, there's no way to find out the size and position of currently open windows! That means you can't set up your windows how you like, and then have autoresizer remember that layout.

@Hakib: actually, you don't get any colder with gel than ice, as long as you leave them in the freezer long enough. Ice comes to temperature-equilibrium with the surrounding environment just like any other matter. So, ice at the same temperature as soap water will indeed take more energy to bring it up above

Beware!! Gigatweaker seems to reset your settings to their defaults when you first run it. I had turned off autoplay, but when i ran gigatweaker, autoplay was enabled. Aargh. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.

@sygyzy: i agree, and you do have to be careful about what you post there (i.e., posts like "hey, do you have a coupon code for..." get slammed). Unlike most sites, where the problem is that you have to sift through a bunch of sh*t until you find the gems, that place is filled with too much high-level info, and you
