If the series used production body work and engines, instead of engines completely unrelated to any they sell and bodies that kinda, sorta (if you squint hard or are really drunk) vaguely resemble two door versions of the four doors they build, the publicity they would receive from winning would be worth way more than…

It's relevant because V8SC used to be a series that had a very "production car" image, when one could go to a Ford or Holden dealer and buy a rear drive V8 powered version of the racing Commodores and Falcons. Including cars that aren't rear drive and aren't available with a V8 takes away from that production car…
