Her laughing in response to a pointless question does not bother me in the least. It was a pointless question. Kamala going to the border would have just been for show. She knows that. Lester Holt knows that.

Go to her twitter which is basically a daily log of all the things VP does.
It’s also classic that police forces will recommend women drive somewhere they feel safe if they are being signaled to pull over and then assault and admonish women for doing so.
This is completely unsurprising (though incredibly disappointing). I would say interactions with colleagues in general have gotten worse because so many have forgotten that we are people on the other side of the screen. Long seeded resentments between groups have been bubbling over.
I would agree there are points to be made but I think they got lost in the hyperbole of “outing her as a KKK princess”.
That’s a great question. It took a lot of time, I think what really did it was that slow build of trust and fostering a sense of therapy is a judgement free area. They would ask questions specifically around my feelings such as “do you think that underneath your anxiety there is sadness in there due to grieving X”.…
As a teen who struggled with suicidal thoughts because I wanted to escape how I was feeling, I will also add one thing I wish my parents had done which is talk about feelings early and often without judgement. Long before teenage years if you can.
Yea the group punishment is what struck me most as well (this whole thing is beyond fucked up). Losing your spot on the team is one thing, subjecting your teammates to punishment is a whole other level of pressure that should NEVER be applied.
I think that is the correct and horrifying assumption
hooray! she looks great and I am super happy that her hair is growing back so healthy!
how participating in a high-stakes athletic tournament that determines the trajectory of her career is less stressful than talking about a tournament
I mean I agree with you that they are different disciplines but it sounds like that was a last stitch “if no one else will do it, let us give it a try”. Which is fair
The tournaments also benefit from having players like Osaka participate. She still should have been able to go to officials and have a discussion, and I am guessing she didn’t feel that was an option.
Ahh I understand, thank you for the clarification
Yea its really easy for them to come out now and say “We would have understood”. This is the same French Open that admonished Serena Williams for wearing an outfit designed for her physical health. Pardon me if I am slow to believe that they would have been understanding about Naomi Osaka’s mental health
I’ve said this in other places but when someone is struggling with their mental health they often don’t make the best decisions. They don’t think clearly/rationally/reasonably.
my guess is no one understands “that she should have bowed out of the tournament to begin with” better than Naomi Osaka.
but I’m also sick of all these takes about requiring press being extraneous or abusive when it’s just part of the contract that she voluntarily signed.
Every job has unpleasant and awful aspects that are a part of it (harrassment, especially those aspects coming from media, is obviously wrong, and the reporters asking those questions should be unemployed. I am only linking this to actual respectful writers). It’s still a part of the job.
Furthermore, based on everything I’ve read, the way she did this was weird. For example she didn’t apparently actually first discuss with the French Open officials her situation and try to see if there was a middle ground to be found there, but instead the people running the tournament read about her decisions at the…
